Tip. Tip was created by Frank Richardson Pierce (Frying Pan Austin, CCCContact & Mile High, Greaseball DonovanHardrock, No-Shirt McGee, Flapjack Meehan, Panhandle Pete, Dad Simms, Rusty Wade) and appeared in four stories in Western Story Magazine in 1925 and 1926, beginning with “Come A-Runnin’ Tip!” (Western Story Magazine, Dec. 5, 1925).

Tip is the lead dog for old time prospector Joe Hardy, and is an unusually intelligent dog–so much so that when he is stolen from Joe and put to work in Hollywood, he prospers. But Tip’s heart is with Hardy (although Tip will do most anything for bacon), and Tip is happiest once he returns to be with Hardy.
