The Patent Leather Kid is a Costumed Avenger. Dan Seller is a rich socialite who has the good fortune to belong to the same social club as Police Inspector Phil Brame. When Seller hears about a crime from Brame, who is usually boasting about the police's solution to that crime, Seller puts on his costume (patent leather mask and shoes, black gloves and tuxedo) and goes out among the underworld and finds and catches the real criminal, who Brame and the police rarely suspect.
