Cole, Carter. Carter Cole was created by Frederick C. Davis (Donald O’Keefe Adams, Bill Brent, Duke Buckland, Dennis Dayle, Murray Gifford, Cyrus Hatch, Mark Hazzard, Jingling Kid, Guy Kerry, Paul Kirk, Show-Me McGee, Moon Man, Operator #5, Radigan, Ravenwood, Secrets, Inc., Peter Trapp II, Peter van Dyk) and appeared in nine stories in Dime Detective Magazine from 1935 to 1937, beginning with “The Case of the Crimson Claws” (Dime Detective Magazine, Aug. 1935).
Dr. Carter Cole is “by profession a psychopathologist of international renown, surprisingly young for one whose researches filled a dozen authoritative volumes, and by inclination a solver of mysteries.” His crimes sometimes verge on the fantastic.
