Ravenwood. Ravenwood was created by Frederick C. Davis (Donald O’Keefe Adams, Bill Brent, Duke Buckland, Carter Cole, Dennis Dayle, Murray Gifford, Cyrus Hatch, Mark Hazzard, Jingling Kid, Guy Kerry, Paul Kirk, Show-Me McGee, Moon Man, Operator #5, Radigan, Secrets, Inc., Peter Trapp II, Peter van Dyk) and appeared in five stories in Secret Agent X in 1936, beginning with “Murder Shrine” (Secret Agent X, Mar. 1936).
Ravenwood is a Superhuman Occult Detective. Ravenwood is a psychic detective active in an unnamed American city. His mentor is the Indian guru, the “Nameless One,” and the two moved to New York from India. Ravenwood is "an extraordinary young man--clean cut, in radiant health, poised, his air of modest confidence enhanced by meticulous grooming and perfect tailoring, who has eyes of "indeterminate" color and "steadfast penetration."
He says that "The realities of Oriental mysticism are incredible to the modern Occidental mind, but fortunately I am of both worlds. I devote myself to investigating strange crimes because the unknown ways of Siva--Siva, the attribute of destruction in the system of Yoga--is a challenge I must meet." His powers allow him to get psychic impressions off of objects, as well as be vaguely clairvoyant and have other abilities as the plot requires. He also carries an automatic in an armpit holster. Ravenwood deals with the undead and mummies, among others.
