Motor Matt. Motor Matt was created by “Stanley R. Matthews,” the pseudonym of William Wallace Cook (Victor Blake, Owen Clancy, Copernicus Jones, Everson Lumley, Seward of Sacatone, Professor Spriggs, Mr. Tapscott), and appeared in thirty-four stories in Motor Stories and Brave and Bold in 1909, beginning with Motor Stories #1 (Feb. 27, 1909); the stories in Motor Stories were later repackaged as the “Motor Power” series and the “Bob Steele” series.
“Motor Matt” is Matt King, a brilliant mechanical engineer whose adventures take him around the world; he fixes all kinds of motors as well as fights villains, assisted by Chub McReady, Welcome Perkins, Carl Pretzel, and Dick Ferral.
