Hanigan, Mickey. Mickey Hannigan was created by Roger Torrey (Bryant, Johnny Carr, Johnny Cass, Shean Connell, Sam Drake, George Killeen, Pat McCarthy, Mike O’Dell, Dal Prentice, John Ryan) and appeared in eleven stories in Detective Fiction Weekly from 1937 to 1941, beginning with “Case for a Killer” (Detective Fiction Weekly, July 17, 1937).
Michael “Mickey” Hanigan is a former cop now working as a private detective. “Hanigan had ethics, though of a peculiar sort and often discounted by the police department.” Hanigan is assisted by Irving Koslowski, driver of a decrepit taxi who acts as Hanigan’s chauffeur.
