Killeen, George. George Killeen was created by Roger Torrey (Bryant, Johnny Carr, Johnny Cass, Shean Connell, Sam Drake, Mickey Hanigan, Pat McCarthy, Mike O’Dell, Dal Prentice, John Ryan) and appeared in five stories in Black Mask from 1934 to 1936, beginning with “Private War” (Black Mask, Jan. 1934).

George Killeen is a Bellem. He is a private detective in Los Angeles. He gets along well with Lieutenant McFee of the Homicide Squad, “one of the few coppers I know that is really smart and not on the make.” Killeen is hard-boiled and is rather grim for a Bellem.
