Daley, Deo. Deo Daley was created by Walker A. Tompkins (Arizona Thunderbolt, Border Eagle, Desert Phantom, Firebrand (II), Kroom, Ozar the Aztec, Rio Rand, Tommy Rockford) and appeared in six stories in Wild West Weekly and a novel in 1934, beginning with “Terror Trail” (Wild West Weekly, Feb. 24, 1934).
Deo Daley is a buckskin-wearing scout and member of the Eighteenth Cavalry stationed at “Fort Adios, that isolated garrison.” He acts as a guide and Indian-fighter, but is really searching for Spanish gold so that he can marry his sweetheart, Irene Garland. Daley finds and loses the gold but wins Irene’s hand.
