Desert Phantom. The Desert Phantom was created by Walker A. Tompkins (Arizona Thunderbolt, Border Eagle, Deo Daley, Firebrand (II), Kroom, Ozar the Aztec, Rio Rand, Tommy Rockford) and appeared in twelve stories in Wild West Weekly from 1933 to 1935, beginning with “The Desert Phantom” (Wild West Weekly, May 27, 1933).
The Desert Phantom is a Costumed Avenger. He is a mysterious vigilante, a “justice rider,” who was at some point in the past wronged, and returns home to his outlaw-rent town to see that justice is done and vengeance fulfilled.
