Purple Monster. The Purple Monster was created by Basil Dickey (Black Hawk, James Blake, Jack Holt (II), Masked Marvel, Phantom Rider, Lance Reardon, Stanley Stanfield, Tiger Woman) and Lynn Perkins and appeared in the film serial The Purple Monster Strikes (1945).

The Purple Monster is a Martian who kills a human scientist, Dr. Layton, and assumes his form in order to complete construction on Layton’s spaceship. The spaceship, when fully built, will enable the Martians to invade Earth. The Purple Monster eventually succeeds in building the spaceship but is killed on take-off when the ship is shot with an electroannihilator by Craig Foster, the heroic lawyer who has been opposing the Purple Monster’s efforts.
