Jones, Candid. Candid Jones was created by Richard B. Sale (Cobra (I), Daffy Dill, Captain McGrail, Penny Packer, Calamity Quade, Daniel Webster) and appeared in nineteen stories in Detective Fiction Weekly from 1937 to 1941, beginning with “Long Shot” (Detective Fiction Weekly, Jan. 9, 1937).
Terence "Candid" Jones is a professional photographer who had formerly been an insurance troubleshooter. But Jones’ job as a photographer often requires him to use his troubleshooter skills. When necessary he uses a Simplex Pichette camera which shoots bullets rather than photos. “He was a pretty big fellow, kind of homely, his face filled with freckles, his hair shiny as bright copper. … He had a strong jaw and clean eyes. … There was an air about him that meant Business with a capital B.”.
