Pending, Pat. Pat Pending was created by Nelson S. Bond (Lancelot Biggs, Horse-Sense Hank, Jessifer, Lobblies, Meg the Priestess, Anne Rogers, Squaredeal Sam, Chip Warren) and appeared in twelve stories in The Blue Book Magazine and Fantastic Universe from 1942 to 1957, beginning with “The Bacular Clock” (The Blue Book Magazine, Jul. 1942).

Pat Pending is an Unlucky Inventor whose creations are ingenious but also lead him into various adventures, often with his Russian counterpart, Regis Patoff. Pending is assisted by Don Mallory, a clerk in the U.S. Patent Office. In at least one story Pending meets Squaredeal Sam.
