Palfrey, Doctor. Doctor Palfrey was created by John Creasey (The Baron, Sexton Blake, Patrick Dawlish, Department Z, Dixon Hawke, The Liberator, Bruce Murdoch, The Toff, Roger West) and appeared in thirty-three novels from 1942 to 1979, beginning with Traitors’ Doom.
Dr. Stanislaus Alexander Palfrey begins as the leader of Z.5, an international ring of Axis-fighting spies. After World War Two ends, he becomes a top agent for Z.5, the United Nations peacekeeping force, fighting a variety of strange threats, from Communist spies to Mad Scientists trying to CONQUER THE WORLD! Palfrey is “tall and slight, round-shouldered, and vaguely apologetic of expression.”
