Dawlish, Patrick. Patrick Dawlish was created by “Gordon Ashe,” the pseudonym of John Creasey (The Baron, Sexton Blake, Department Z, Dixon Hawke, The Liberator, Bruce Murdoch, Doctor Palfrey, The Toff, Roger West), and appeared in fifty-one novels from 1939 to 1976, beginning with The Speaker.
Patrick “Rock” Dawlish is a tall (6'3"), very strong crime-fighter. During World War Two he is a highly-ranked officer in MI5, fighting a private war against the Germans, but after the war ends he enters active duty with Scotland Yard, eventually rising to become Deputy Assistant Commissioner for Crime. Later Dawlish joins the “Crime Haters,” an international organization of police officers, similar to Interpol but with more authority. With the Crime Haters Dawlish pursues criminals around the world, assisted by Inspector Trivett. Dawlish is devoted to his wife, Felicity.
