Masson, Benedict. Benedict Masson was created by the French author Gaston Leroux (Balaoo, Cheri-Bibi, Eliphas de Saint-Elme de Taillebourg de la Nox, Captain Hyx, Theophraste Longuet, Mysterious King, Phantom of the Opera, Joseph Rouletabille) and appeared in La Poupée Sanglante (1923) and La Machine à Assassiner (1924).
Benedict Masson is a man who is framed for murder and guillotined, only to have his brain removed from his head and put into the body of an android named Gabriel. In this body Masson takes on and defeats a cult of vampires, led by the depraved and evil Marquis de Coulteray.
