De la Nox, Eliphas de Saint-Elme de Taillebourg. Eliphas de Saint-Elme de Taillebourg de la Nox was created by the French author Gaston Leroux (Balaoo, Cheri-Bibi, Captain Hyx, Theophraste Longuet, Benedict Masson, Mysterious King, Phantom of the Opera, Joseph Rouletabille) and appeared in Le Fauteuil Hanté (1909). Eliphas de Saint-Elme de Taillebourg De la Nox creates a series of gadgets to kill members of the French Academy who are aware of de la Nox’s secret. De La Nox is eventually caught by Hippolyte Patard, the Academy secretary, and the antiquarian Gaspard Lalouette.
