The Guillotine. The Guillotine was created by Arthur J. Burks (Professor Barter, Black Falcon, Duff Braden, Jack Brady, Edward D’Strange, Harlan Dyce, David Haslup, Eddie Kelly, Josh McNab, Dorus Noel, Allan Swain) and appeared in “The Guillotine” (George Bruce’s Contact, Mar. 1934) and “False Colors” (George Bruce’s Contact, Apr. 1934).
Allan Benson is an American aviator fighting for the Allies during World War One. He is known as “the Guillotine” because he is forced to kill men. He used to be a first lieutenant in the Marine Corps, but he was court-martialed and found guilty for killing fourteen women and children by bombing. (He maintained his innocence). Abandoned by his friends, the President made him an offer: lose his identity, become a man without a country, and fight for America. Now he’s nerveless and always calm–he has nothing else to live for–and quite capable under fire. After his first mission his sentence is commuted, but he fights on for the U.S.
