Pagneomon. Pagneomon was created by Fred MacIsaac (Dick Boswell, Pete Crane, Fred Leonard, Rambler Murphy, King J. Nelson, Bill Peepe) and appeared in “The Last Atlantide” (Popular Magazine, Dec. 17, 1927-Jan. 21, 1928).

Tens of thousands of years ago Atlantis flourished, then declined. It was in the Atlantic Ocean, and for most of its existence was overpopulated. Emigration was the usual outlet, but Atlanteans turned to using dikes and sea walls to reclaim land. Atlantean culture was similar to the ancient Greeks’, but the priests held more power, and controlled a secret kind of technology. Pagneomon is a nobleman in the final years of Atlantis. His father is murdered by Negor, a political powerful court figure, and Pagneomon sets out to avenge his father’s death by entering the cult of Mazor. But before Pagneomon can put his plans in action Negor is murdered by Queen Murnova, which leads to a civil war. Pagneomon is a leader of the opposition forces, but when Murnova offers a peace treaty in exchange for Pagneomon marrying her, he is forced to agree. But then the sea walls crumble, and Murnova commits suicide, and Pagneomon and the woman he really loves escape to the mainland.
