McCloud, Steve. Steve McCloud was created by Cleve F. Adams (Canavan & Kleinschmidt, Engelhardt & Dewey, Rex McBride, Violet McDade, Bill Rye, John J. Shannon) and appeared in two stories in Detective Fiction Weekly and Ten Detective Aces and at least one novel from 1937 to 1943, beginning with “Private War” (Detective Fiction Weekly, Oct. 2, 1937).

Lt. Steven McCloud is a police officer in Hollywood: “Stephen McCloud, who lives and acts in the expensive and expansive atmosphere of fast cars and faster women, fabulous jewels and predatory people.”
