Knox, Nicholas. Nicholas Knox was created by Frederick J. Jackson (Slivers Cassidy, Lloyd Demarest, Man in the Motor Mask, Kristian White) and appeared in “The Nocturnal Adventures of Nicholas Knox” (People’s Magazine, Nov 1915-Oct 1916).
Nicholas Knox is a bored millionaire afflicted with ennui and purposelessness. But one day Bigelow Aimes, the son of one of the set among whom Knox is known, tries to hold up Knox for $25,000, to rescue his father from jail. Knox is excited and simply gives Aimes the money, and after making sure that Aimes’ father is secure Knox proposes that he and Aimes wander the streets of New York City at night, Haroun al-Raschid-style, and see what adventure they can find and what people they can help, either with their money or with their social position and accompanying power.
