Brace, Reverend Bryson. The Reverend Bryson Brace was created by Ellis Parker Butler (Jabez Bunker, Diogenes, Grayson Greene, Philo Gubb, Shagbark Jones, Jane Sprood) and appeared in five stories in Detective Story Magazine from 1917 to 1918, beginning with “Bread Upon the Waters” (Detective Story Magazine, Sept. 25, 1917).

Bryson Brace is a minister in a small town who solves various crimes. He is forty years old, tall, “quick and nervous” in his actions, somewhat careless in his dress, and tremendously energetic. He is cheerful and married.
