Trant, Timothy. Timothy Trant was created by “Q. Patrick,” the pseudonym of Richard Webb (Peter Duluth) and Hugh Wheeler (Peter Duluth), and appeared in twenty-six stories and eight novels from 1937 to 1965, beginning with Death for Dear Clara.
Timothy Trant is a well-dressed lieutenant in the N.Y.P.D. Homicide Bureau. He is a young man with a “pleasant, oddly arresting face.” He is the son of a celebrated physician, is a former law student, and has “an uncanny talent for understanding the criminal mind...defects of unconventionality and...impatience with routine investigation.”
