Duluth, Peter. Peter Duluth was created by “Patrick Quentin,” the pseudonym of Richard Webb (Timothy Trant) and Hugh Wheeler (Timothy Trant), and appeared in a number of stories and eight novels from 1936 to 1952, beginning with A Puzzle for Fools.

Peter Duluth is a theatrical producer of some note whose adventures in crime-solving are more-or-less by accident, when he stumbles over bodies or unwittingly discovers the aftermaths of crimes. He is also often asked to help friends and family, which he gladly does. He is an alcoholic, but does not allow that to get in the way of his detecting. He is assisted by Iris Murdoch, his wife and an actress in his company. On two occasions he helps and is helped by Timothy Trant.
