Silvan, Tom. Tom Silvan was created by “Pitt Strong,” the pseudonym of the German author Elisabeth von Aspern (Black Bird, Wolf Greif, Tom Shark), and appeared in Tom Silvan. Il Più Grande Dei Detectives #1-7 (1930-1931).
Tom Silvan is a Great Detective modeled on Nick Carter (I). Silvan is an Italian-American private detective located in Rome but solving crimes around Europe. Silvan’s abilities are modeled on Nick Carter’s, as are Silvan’s enemies, which include the thief and assassin Buster Malcolm (modeled on Carter’s opponent Morris Carruthers) and the psychotic murderer Betsy Griffith, a duplicate of Carter’s memorable enemy Ines Navarro.
Silvan appears in stories with titles like “The Female Demon,” “The Pirate of North Berlin,” and “The Seventh Sacrifice.”
