Keen, Hal. Hal Keen was created by “Hugh Lloyd,” the pseudonym of Percy Keese Fitzhugh (Skippy Dare, Mark Gilmore, Tom Slade) and appeared in the ten-book “Hal Keen Mystery Stories” series, beginning with The Hermit of Gordon's Creek (1931) and concluding with The Mystery at the Dark Star Ranch (1934).

Hal Keen is a square-jawed, clean-cut, two-fisted American teenager who solves mysteries (often involving violent criminals) in the United States (coast of Maine, American West) and abroad (in the Amazon and Sahara).
