De la Muerte, Carlos. Carlos de la Muerte was created by Seabury Quinn (Carmichael, Jules De Grandin, Professor Forrester, Major Sturdevant, The Vagabond) and appeared in four stories in Oriental Stories and Magic Carpet Magazine from 1930 to 1934, beginning with “The Vagabond-at-Arms” (Oriental Stories, May 1930). Carlos de la Muerte is a Spanish vagabond-at-arms, a wandering Muslim adventurer, lethal with his steel, an enemy of the Church and the hidalgos but not one over-favored of cruel Muslims, either.
