Forrester, Professor. Professor Forrester was created by Seabury Quinn (Carmichael, Jules De Grandin, Carlos de la Muerte, Major Sturdevant, The Vagabond) and appeared in thirteen stories in Real Detective Tales in 1927 and 1928, beginning with “In the Fog” (Real Detective Tales, Feb. 1927).
Professor Harvey Forrester is on the faculty of the School of Anthropology of Benjamin Franklin University, in Washington, D.C. He is a middle-aged, average man with several stereotypically academic habits, including talking to himself. He is fluent in nearly every language on Earth, and is interested in forgotten civilizations, old sciences, and the like. He is assisted by his ward, Rosalie, who he rescued from slavery.
