Darrow, Ruth. Ruth Darrow was created by Mildred A. Wirt (Nancy Drew, Doris Force, Penny Parker) and appeared in the four-book “Ruth Darrow Flying Stories” series, beginning with Ruth Darrow in the Air Derby (1930) and concluding with Ruth Darrow in the Yucatan (1931).

Ruth Darrow is a teenaged pilot whose father is a retired army colonel. With her best friend Sandy Marland, Darrow wins air races, works with the Fire Patrol in California, explores the Yucatan, and fights smugglers for the Coast Guard.
