Taine, Roger. Roger Taine was created by Geoffrey Household and appeared in Rogue Male (1939), Rough Shoot (1951), and A Time to Kill (1952).

Roger Taine is an English aristocrat who loves to hunt, but his devotion to his hobby gets him in trouble. The first time, he decides to apply his skills to killing an unnamed European dictator (implicitly Hitler), but is caught in the act and is hunted by the security forces of the dictator through the English countryside. And later, during a hunt, he shoots (with buckshot) what he thinks is a poacher, which leads him to battle a communist conspiracy.
