The Stranger. The Stranger was created by the Indian author Vatuvur Ke Turaicami Aiyankar (Digambara Monk) and appeared in Mayavinota Parateci (circa 1938) and Marunkapuri Maayakkolai (circa 1941).
The Stranger is a nameless wandering Indian monk modeled on Father Brown. He is active in southern India and is of such wisdom and holiness that he is known to the people as the “Mysterious Magical Stranger.” In Marunkapuri Maayakkolai the Stranger deals with a case mysteriously similar to Conan Doyle’s The Hound of the Baskervilles (1902).
