Rushton, Grant. Grant Rushton was created by G.H. Teed (Black Abbot, Sexton Blake, Sampson Parr, Shadow Crook) and appeared in five novels from 1935 to 1939, beginning with Murder Ship.
Grant Rushton is a Great Detective modeled on Sexton Blake. Rushton is famous in Europe as a consulting detective, but he is active around the world, from wretched hives of scum and villainy in a Yellow Peril-ruled Malaysian island to Egypt to a voodoo-dominated Caribbean island. He takes on murderers and criminals of all races, and while as educated and accomplished as Blake is more action-oriented. Rushton’s Tinker is Tony Farways.
