Quayne, Quentin. Quentin Quayne was created by F. Britten Austin and appeared in six stories in The Red Book Magazine in 1924 and 1925, beginning with “The Vanished Duke” (The Red Book Magazine, Sept 1924).

Quentin Quayne is a Great Detective. He is the head of the Q.Q. Agency and is called “Chief” by his underlings. He has an “ice cold brain” that “at the appropriate stimulus, could function with lightning rapidity, leap from analysis to synthesis, from clue to hypothesis, from a seeming normality to the perception of a hidden crime with a swift accuracy.”
