Kirk, Don. Don Kirk was created by Edward Mott Woolley and appeared in the two-book “Donald Kirk” series, beginning with Donald Kirk, the Morning Record Copy Boy (1912) and concluding with Donald Kirk, the Morning Record Correspondent (1913).

Don Kirk begins as a street urchin and works his way up to first copy boy and then correspondent for the Morning Record. He investigates and uncovers crime, of course.
