Kanto, Kalle. Kalle Kanto was created by the Finnish author Kaarlo Erho and appeared in a number of novels from 1943 to 1950, beginning with Harmaan miehen salaisuus.

Kalle Kanto is a reporter and amateur detective in Helsinki. Many of Kanto’s cases take place in small towns. The colorless Kanto is Watsoned by Ville Saarinen, who does much of the legwork for Kanto and is instrumental in allowing Kanto to solve crimes.
