Johnsen, Axel. Axel Johnsen was created by the Danish author C. Andersen and appeared in En Dansk Lecoq (1897) and En Dansk Sherloch [sic] Holmes (1908).

Axel Johnsen is a police detective in Copenhagen who has a great deal of success in imitating the methods of both Emile Gaboriau’s Monsieur Lecoq and Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes.
