Fordney, Professor. Professor Fordney was created by Roy Post and Austin Ripley and appeared in thirty-one stores in Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine and various newspapers from 1942 to 1945, beginning with “The Case of the Death Car” (Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine, July 1942).

Professor Joseph Fordney teaches criminology at The University, and is happy to use his skills, and his students, to solve crimes and catch criminals. Despite being an academic, Fordney is grim, hard, and streetwise.
