Ferris, Dick. Dick Ferris was created by Alfred John Hunter (Sexton Blake, Captain Dack) and appeared in the story serials “The Lure of the Lost Land” (Boys’ Magazine, Feb. 27-May 20, 1922) and “The Secret of Crossbones Island” (Boys’ Magazine, May 27-Aug 19, 1922).

Dick Ferris is a British schoolboy whose uncle creates a technologically-advanced aircraft and uses it to search for treasure in the jungles of the Amazon. Ferris’ uncle disappears, however, and Ferris and his best chums Mick Harrigan and Don Lindsay are forced to go to the Amazon to find him. They discover a Lost Race milieu of dinosaurs and encounter and eventually defeat a band of pirates led by “Captain Death.”
