Day, Hiram. Hiram Day was created by Oscar Graeve and appeared in three stories in Saturday Evening Post in 1920, beginning with “Alonzo the Magnificent” (Saturday Evening Post, Jan. 24, 1920).

Hiram Day is the shrewd, middle-aged head of the H.W. Day Agency who guides his business through the rocky seas of business, outwitting competitors, hiring away rising young copy writers, and managing to wring the most money from his clients for the least amount of work.
