The Best of the Encyclopedia of Pulp Heroes: Contacts, Inc.

clausenContacts, Inc. Contacts, Inc. was created by Carl Clausen and appeared in at least ten stories in Street & Smith’s Detective Story Magazine from 1938 to 1941, beginning with “Toils of Avarice” (Street & Smith’s Detective Story Magazine, Nov. 1938). Contacts, Inc., is a private detective agency consisting of the pert, smart, leggy blonde, Petra “Pete” Ericsen, and her partner, the wry and cynical Dale Clark. They specialize in flirtatious banter with each other (more from Pete teasing Dale than the other way ‘round) and in solving missing persons cases. Their police contacts are Lt. Laird McLee, of the homicide squad, and his “adipose shadow,” Sergeant Rice.
