Miss Fury. Socialite Marla Drake is left a costume by her uncle. The costume is made of black leopard skin, and had originally been the ceremonial robe and symbol of justice of a "witch doctor." Although the robe is explicitly stated to be “cursed” with “strange powers” and can perform “miracles,” Miss Fury does not seem to receive any superpowers from the robe, but she fights crime wearing it anyhow. She is assisted by Albino Joe, a Harvard-educated albino native Brazilian. She appears in stories with titles like “The Case of General Bruno” and “Erica von Kampf Targets Gary Hale.”

First Appearance: Miss Fury #1 (Marvel), Winter 1942-1943. 8 appearances, 1942-1946. Created by Tarpe Mills.
