Major Liberty. John Liberty, a Professor of American History, is outraged over the actions of saboteurs and the enemies of democracy in general: “What we need to battle America’s enemies are the spirits of old!” These words conjure up a ghost who judges his patriotism worthy and transforms him into Major Liberty. To fight crime and anti-democrats Liberty can summon up the ghosts of past American patriots, such as Paul Revere and Ethan Allen, to aid him.
