Justice Society of America. First and greatest of all the Golden Age superteams, the Justice Society of America, or JSA, was formed first by a group of heroes sitting around shooting the bull, and later formed to fight threats. The JSA's membership consisted of the Atom, Batman, Dr. Fate, Dr. Mid-Nite, the Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Hourman, Johnny Thunder (I), Mr. Terrific, Red Tornado, Sandman, Spectre, Superman, Wildcat, and Wonder Woman. Their Rogues Gallery include the hyper-intelligent Brain Wave, the alchemist Professor Zodiak, the mad painter Nels Farrow, King Bee (who commands flying insect-men), and especially the  Injustice Society of the World, an all-star assemblage of the JSA’s individual villains: The Gambler, Brain Wave, Vandal Savage, The Wizard, Per Degaton, the Thinker, the Fiddler, Sportsmaster, Tigress, Icicle, and Harlequin. They appear in stories with titles like “The Mysterious Mister X,” “The Black Dragon,” and “Shanghaied into Space!”
