Daredevil. Bart Hill is orphaned as a child by crooks who killed his father. They also torture  Bart, branding a boomerang-shaped scar into his chest. This renders Bart mute. He swears on his parents' grave that he will avenge them, and so puts himself in top shape and trains himself to be a master of the boomerang. He then goes out and fights crime, and eventually he regains his voice. He is assisted by his girlfriend, Tonia, and by the youth gang known as the Little Wise Guys. Daredevil has no superpowers but is an outstanding hand-to-hand fighter and acrobat, and is, as mentioned, a master of the boomerang. His arch-enemy is the Claw, but there are Nazis to be fought, Mad Scientists, the Deadly Dozen, Wolf Carson (a wolf with a human brain), the Ghoul, Reve Venge (the Phantom of Notre Dame), and Crepto, the imbecile with the strength of fifteen men, as well as ordinary criminals. Daredevil appears in stories with titles like “Case of the Mutilated Mummy,” “Enter the Parson,” and “The Affair of the Scarlet Skull.”

First Appearance: Silver Streak #6 (Lev Gleason), Sept 1940. 100+ appearances, 1940-1951. Created by Jack Binder and ?
