Silent, John. John Silent was created by “Rupert Hall,” the pseudonym of Edward Reginald Home-Gall (Colwyn Dane, Don Sabre, Victor Gaunt, Hawkeye (I), Mad Carew, Jim Mason (II), Rod Mason, Rough-Diamond Rudd, Speed-Boat Trackers), and appeared in a number of stories in Triumph in 1931.
John Silent is a Legionnaire. He is the “mystery man of the Legion” and is hated by the officers and some of the other men, both for his innate nobility and because they suspect him of being a spy in the pay of the Arabs. But many of the other Legionnaires love him for his bravery and trust that his mysterious ways are ultimately to help the Legion.
