Rudolph, Max. Max Rudolph was created by “Rikhard Hornanlinna,” the pseudonym of the Finnish author Rudolf Richard Ruth, and appeared in Kellon salaisuus (1910) and Lähellä kuolemaa (1910).

Max Rudolph is a Great Detective modeled on both Sherlock Holmes and Nick Carter (I). Rudolph is an amateur detective, active in Helsinki, and is a master of disguise. He is Watsoned by his assistant, a dry little man who compares Rudolph to Holmes. In the course of solving various crimes Rudolph travels to St. Petersburg and Moscow, where he demonstrates a thorough knowledge of Russian language and culture.
