Dost, Abdul. Abdul Dost was created by Harold Lamb (Khlit) and appeared in nine stories in Adventure (U.S.) in 1919 and 1920, beginning with “The Skull of Shrizad Mir” (Adventure (U.S.), Nov. 1, 1919).

Abdul Dost is a doughty Afghan nobleman in the 16th century. He is a Mansabdar, an officer in the army of Jahangir, the Mogul of India, and serves under Shirzad Mir. Among his other exploits, Dost frees Shirzad Mir from an Uzbek prison, teams up with the English merchant Sir Weyand and helps establish a trade agreement between England and the Mogul, and later fights with and teams up with Khlit.
