Corning, Ken. Ken Corning was created by Erle Stanley Gardner (Black Barr, Major Copley Brane, Terry Clane, Bertha Cool, Speed Dash, Jax Keen, Barney Killigen, Bob Larkin, Lester Leith, Señor Lobo, The Man in the Silver Mask, Perry Mason, Ed Migraine, Patent Leather Kid, Phantom Crook, Paul Pry (II), Doug Selby, Pete Wennick, White Rings, Gramps Wiggins, Bob Zane, Sidney Zoom) and appeared in six stories in Black Mask in 1932 and 1933, beginning with “Honest Money” (Black Mask, Nov. 1932).

Ken Corning is a lawyer newly arrived to York City. It’s not an easy job, being an attorney there: the cops are crooked bullies, the politicians are corrupt and oily, and his clients aren’t likable. But Corning does what he can.
