Carlin, Tiger. Tiger Carlin was created by Arthur Leo Zagat (Dr. Bain, Dikar, Ford Duane, Jed, Ann Marsh, Tom Dick & Harry, Doc Turner) and appeared in five stories in Street & Smith’s Detective Story Magazine from 1939 to 1941, beginning with “Medicine for Murder” (Street & Smith’s Detective Story Magazine, Dec. 1939).

Steve “Tiger” Carlin is the “ace dick” for District Attorney Scott in the metropolis of Sea City. Carlin is ruthless in pursuing criminals, and almost sadistic in the violence he dispenses and his willingness to do so. He is quite vocal about his eagerness to protect ordinary citizens even if he has to break and shoot every criminal in existence to do so. Carlin is gaunt and hard-faced.
