Bragg, John. John Bragg was created by “Henry Wade,” the pseudonym of Henry L. Aubrey-Fletcher (Major Faide, Inspector Lott, Inspector Poole), and appeared in thirteen short stories and two novels and short story collections, beginning with Here Comes the Copper.
Constable John Bragg is a humble, hard-working, ambitious copper. He is inquisitive and dogged and very much wants to advance in the force. His motto is “Notice and Remember,” which he puts into action whenever possible; this, with his habit of taking notes as he walks his beat, helps him crack a series of crimes which confront him in both Chelsea and rural Downshire.
