Bass, Inspector. Inspector Bass was created by Seldon Truss (Inspector Gidleigh, Detective Inspector Shane) and appeared in Rooksmiths (1936), Foreign Bodies (1938), and Murder in Silence (1939).

Inspector Bass is a Scotland Yard detective. He is an “inoffensive-looking” man who wears a grey bowler hat. He has a pleasant attitude, although he is no friend to the press or fan of them, and he can be grim and hard when murder has been committed.
